Before forming Alien Crime Syndicate, singer/guitarist Joe Reineke was the singer in another San Francisco-based* pop-rock band called The Meices.

They released three albums, 1992's Greatest Bible Stories Ever Told, 1994's Tastes Like Chicken (produced by Kurt Bloch of The Fastbacks), and 1996's Dirty Bird (produced by Gil Norton).  They also have a song entitled Ready, Steady, Go that was featured on the soundtrack to the movie Empire Records starring Liv Tyler and Renee Zelwegger before fame).

I shall search for some videos etc. later, but they're a pretty cool band in a similar vain to ACS, The Figgs, etc.

*ACS actually formed in San Francisco, before moving to LA, and then moving again to Seattle. Smiley

Anything produced by Gil Norton is worth checking out (Foo Fighters, Pixies, ACS, Counting Crows)....

I have the movie and soundtrack, didn't realise any connections, but then I only touched them once long ago, so long it might as well have been never..
Guess I`ll retouch it sometime
